Theologiclly Speaking

THEOLOGICALLY SPEAKING
One way of approaching a bible story or narrative is to read it and ask three questions:

1. What does the story tell us about God? What kind of God is pictured in this story?

2. What does the story tell us about human nature? What kind of people are in the story? What does it tell us about the human condition?

3. Last, after we have answered the first two questions, we should ask: In what way(s) is this story MY story? Unless it becomes YOUR story, in light nature of God and humanity, it is simply a story. When it becomes YOUR story, then it truly becomes Scripture (God's word to you.)

THEOLOGICALLY SPEAKING
An etiology is a story which explains why something is "the way it is" when there is no explanation. There are several etiologies in Genesis which will be identified.
Twenty-one "Theologically Speaking" boxes are located throughout the text bring new light to the subject at hand. These examples are only two of many others.
